The
apartment is located in the Haute Savoie village of La Chapelle
d'Abondance, which links in to the massive Portes du Soleil ski
area. Richebourg,
Abondance and La Chapelle d'Abondance are not as well known (or
as busy !) as neighbouring villages, such as Chatel, Les Gets
and Morzine, but are perfectly located for access to the Portes
du Soleil ski area. Most of the other resorts are no more than
45 minutes drive away. These include Morzine (33 km), Avoriaz
(45 km), Samoens (59km), Flaine (78km). Chamonix (95km) is reached
by motorway in just over an hour, either over the pass into Switzerland,
via Martigny or, via Cluses on the French roads. For 'serious'
shopping, Thonon is only 33 km and Anemasse (Geneve) 66 km.
La
Chapelle d'Abondance is a typical alpine village, but caters well
for the self catering visitor with a mini supermarkets, bakery
and patisserie, as well as hotels, bars and restaurants. There
is also a church and a tourist information centre. There is an
excellent and friendly bar and pizzeria directly across the road
from the apartment block. The owner also runs the ski shop next
door and is highly recommended. There is a large Intermarche supermarket
just on the edge of La Chapelle d'Abondance, toward Chatel.
The
heated outdoor swimming pool (Chatel) is popular with visitors
in the summer months, as are the municipal tennis courts. The
villages of Abondance, La Chapelle d'Abondance and Chatel also
host many festivities during peak season, at which visitors to
the region are always made to feel very welcome.

by Road:
The village of La
Chapelle d'Abondance
is approximately 550 miles from the port of Calais and can be
